This is a first for a French media and a rare opportunity for its readers. At the start of the next school year, Le Parisien will offer 1,000 unique NFTs for sale, linked to various community benefits, created from 100 historical front pages.
These first pages, selected by the editors, highlight some of the most important current events since 1944, the year of the creation of our newspaper, then called “Le Parisien liberated”. From the end of World War II to the Blues’ victory in 1998 and 2018, including the coronation of Elizabeth II, the disappearance of Princess Diana or the fire of Notre-Dame.
A low ecological impact
Indispensable in the new generation of Internet (Web3), the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) or “non-fungible tokens” have the function of certificate of digital ownership of a virtual work. Their registration on a blockchain guarantees their traceability and inspires confidence in the owner, especially in case of resale.
For this project called “Crypto-unes”, Le Parisien has chosen to use the Polygon network, a more energy efficient blockchain in its operation and whose exchanges respect carbon neutrality.
Become a pioneer of the project
Prospective buyers will be able to buy some in cryptocurrencies or with a simple bank card. The ‘mint’, the actual production of the front pages of these collectors, will take place in the autumn. Meanwhile, future buyers can track the progress of the project on the social network Twitter but also by joining the dedicated Discord group.
The first 500 to arrive will enjoy benefits during the first “drop” as a pioneer of an innovative project in the world of mainstream print media.
