The Cup Series enters the playoffs after a wild (and drawn out) regular season finale at Daytona last weekend. Amid a postponed event and a long rain delay on Sunday, Austin Dillon was able to squeeze into the playoffs thanks to picking up a win at the famous track for the second time in his career. That meant Ryan Blaney, who had not won a race yet this season, made it into the postseason, while Martin Truex Jr. was eliminated by just a couple of points.

Coming into the playoffs, regular season champion Chase Elliott has a sizeable 15-point lead over second-place Joey Logano, thanks to winning a season-high four checkered flags. It almost puts him as a shoe-in to grab a spot in the Round of 12, and a hopeful shot at winning a second NASCAR title. However, you cannot count out the 2018 Champion, as Logano was one of eight drivers to have at least two wins in 2022.

Former champions Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and last year’s winner Kyle Larson are also in the mix in these playoffs, entering the playoffs in fourth behind Ross Chastain.

Dating back to its first NASCAR-sanctioned event in 1950, Darlington has seen its fair share of legends end up in Victory Lane. That includes Logano, who won the lone regular season race back in May. Hamlin has four wins at The Lady in Black, while Harvick and Busch have also been victorious in their careers at Darlington.
